The Next Step class comes after the Beginning Group Class. To join this class students must have completed the Beginning Group Class (or the equivalent in private lessons) and can comfortably float and unfloat in the shallow end. The Next Step Class gives students more time in the deep water and advances each student to their individual next step towards being free in the water. Similar to the Beginning Group Class, the first portion of class is spent on land in discussion and then moves into the pool.
We find it takes students somewhere between 24 to 100 hours to become free in the deep water. Some students complete this in the Beginning Group Class while others need more time with guided instruction and practice. Students come to Orca with different levels of fear, experiences and processes of learning, therefore, the time and path is slightly different for each student. Your path is exactly right for you.

"Very glad that I took it. Very much like the philosophy of not pushing myself through sometimes it's hard to stick with that." -Joanne
Thank you so much for your amazing coaching and patience! It has been one of the most amazing weekends of my life! To me, letting go of the wall was huge. I am so glad I did it. Deep down, I really had resigned myself to never being able to do this. I still can't believe I did it.
