It is so important that students feel comfortable and safe when learning. We like our pools to be at least 90 degrees. Ideally, students have access to both shallow and deep water in the same place. The very best pools in which to learn are those where a person is able to touch their hands on the floor in one area of the pool, and unable to touch the bottom at all in another area, to learn how it all works. Warm deep pools are very difficult to find in the Seattle area, so we are very grateful for the ones we have!

This pool is a private pool to Orca Swim School. When we hold adult classes it is only our students in the pool. We take no more than 4 people in a group class. During the Summer the pool is uncovered so we can enjoy the amazing Pacific Northwest weather and during the cooler months we cover with an AirDome to keep our swimmers warm and comfortable against the elements This pool is kept between 90-94 degrees year round.

This is another private Orca Swim School pool. We take no more than 7 people in the group lessons and keep a 4:1 ratio of students to teacher/spotters. When we hold classes, our students are the only ones in the warm 92 degree pool. There is both shallow and deep water to explore, along with a nice bench and steps in the pool, for being able to put your hands down on the ground.

This is a public pool that is run by the City of Bellevue. There is a warm shallow water pool and a large lap pool with dive tank (deep end). The lessons are taught during public swims so there are other people using the pool at the same time. The warm shallow pool is 90 degrees and the lap pool with deep end is 84-86 degrees. We recommend wet suit tops in the lap pool when learning the basics there.
